newLatest news: The COVID-19 pandemic impacts us all, we decided in agreement with the UNESCO-IUGS to postpone the 5th IGCP638 meeting of Accra to Dec. 4-9, 2022.

 

The fifth IGCP638 meeting will be held in Accra (Ghana) on 2022 and will be hosted by the University of Ghana, with :

-  2 days conference in Accra: Dec. 4th - 6th, 2022

followed by

-  3 days field trip along with a transect (Dec. 7th - 9th, 2022) on the Precambrian Formations of Ghana, More details will be posted in due time.

A special volume in an international peer review journal will be launched before the meeting.

The most interested participants expected for the 5th IGCP638 meeting are from: Algeria; Australia; Belgium; Benin; Burkina Faso; Cameroon; Côte d’Ivoire; Democratic Republic of Congo; France; Gabon; Gambia; Germany; Ghana; Guinea; Liberia; Mali; Mauritania; Mexico; Morocco; Niger; Nigeria; Russia; Senegal; Sierra Leone; South Africa; Spain; Switzerland; Togo; Tunisia; UK; Uruguay; USA.

This meeting will be organized jointly to better (i) help establish relations between industrial partners, students, academics and other professionals for further scientific collaborations, through research programs in progress or to come and (ii) welcome granted students in different labs for rock analyses and field data processing, etc. A database, available in a server of the University of Rennes 1, is dedicated to that purpose, i.e. storage, analysis, processing and modeling of field and numerical data using large memory and high speed processors fitting big amount of data (data mining as well). This program is running in parallel and in close collaboration with the Ecos program (Rio de la Plata, Uruguay): airborne data processing, field data acquisition, multi- stages, scales of geophysical, geological & geochemical analyses. Several PhD and MSc students take part in these programs (see PhD-MSc supervisions).

The main leaders for the organization of this meeting are: Pr. M. Jessel (Centre for Exploration Targeting/SES, University of Western Australia, Perth) and Dr. Prince Ofori Amponsah (University of Ghana) with the help of Pr. Francis Dodoo pro-vice chancellor of the University of Ghana (UG)
